It really doesnt matter who is in charge, for either station. We in Lafayette just have them 2 stations. So we are stuck with the both of them. I know I like Ben Legg for weather he seems to get it right better than the rest!

it would be refreshing if there could a news medium, where there is accurate, detailed, and OBJECTIVE reporting in this area- if people of the Lafayette area don't think that KLFY, KATC, or the Daily Advertiser arn't influenced by personal associations and politics in their reporting people are sorley mistaken- I'm still waiting, and may be for a very long time for some truley objective reporting

I suppose what drives me "Nut-so" is the collection of young reporters that both KLFY and KATC have turned loose on our airways. Obviously, these people get the jobs because they are cheap to hire and are in this market to gain experience before moving on. the exception to this is that TV-10 seems to hire even below this level of competence. I'm not sure wether these people could actually get a job in another market unless it was a smaller market. Even Baton Rouge has people who can at least pronounce the local names correctly and don't appear to be working their way through college. Please take note KATC! Here is one symptom.. I'm convienced that neither 10 nor 3 have anyone onboard that has been in this market long enough or is intelligent enough to realize that the "E" in E. Broussard Road doesn't stand for East! I think that before you are allowed to go on the air here in a news gathering or news reporting capacity you should be given a one question test. Here is the question... "What was the name of Ambassador Caffery Pkwy before it was Ambassador Caffery Pkwy? If they don't know at least this much about their community.... go learn and get OJT elswhere!

Does it bother anyone else that Kerry Hall on KATC doesn't use proper English?

I have been here long enough to know that the road was named for Eloi Broussard, thus, "E. Broussard" road. Shame on the media for making the assumption the the E is for east. They should have enough sense to know that directional names are almost always given in a road name, East Pinhook, West Pinhook, North College, South College.
And, of course, portions (but not all) of what is now Ambassador Caffery Parkway were known as New Flanders Road.

Spoken like a true native of Lafayette Parish... WOW! It's good to know that there are some of us left! I have been here long enough to know that the road was named for Eloi Broussard, thus, "E. ok klfy was a little late on the news coverage about the city police and the wire tapping. but to chucks credit, he went after the story with full force. to the point he almost got kicked out of the police department.
now onto the wiretapping. what the hell is going on! someone tapped the chiefs secretary. then from what chuck said it was just placed under her desk like some juvenile trying to get some scoop. but now, someone is going to be in trouble. someone needs to get fired and put in a federal jail for violation of rights, and breaking the law. it is very sad that someone who is supposed to up hold all the laws, breaks them laws.

This will tell it all. You ask KATC to do a story on SECTION 16 LANDS. A can of WORMS always wants to open. KLFY attended a meeting and did what they could and made a story.

You all are telling the truth regarding getting cheap, but inexperienced, personnel. A friend of mine was dating a girl that worked as a producer for KLFY. He said that she made less than he did. The kicker was that he made slightly above minimum wage!
Although I read The Daily Advertiser everyday, I rarely watch the news unless there is a big story of the day that grabs my attention.

You have to be on your toes to know what station is on because most from KLFY moved to KATC. It's whos on 1st. and what's on 2nd.

I had heard that Cox was to offer one of the New Orleans channels on cable, and I wish they would. I believe that would cause our local channels to self examine and improve their reporting. What happened, Katrina ?

Has anyone noticed that we have two ABC & CBS channels, but only one NBC channel? I was thinking that Cox would probably offer another NBC channel, because having three that showed the same programs would only hurt the Lafayette-based channels.
When I lived in New Orleans many years back, Cox had their own TV station that showed mostly original programming. I remember a show that had a live audience and was about the Saints (I think). Not an AOC public broadcasting station, but a station that actually had commercials. Would that be feasible in Lafayette?

I wish Cox would pipe New Orleans NBC over here. Would be refreshing.

Anybody seen anything even remotely resembling an investigative reporter? Me either. I think that would help to keep people on their toes.

Hey, pops53. They don't pay the field reporters much money, so why would they put in the work. Could you imagine with all the corruption that probably goes on in Lafayette, someone could really make a name for themselves by simply keeping their eyes open.
You know what I think? That KATC & KLFY probably receive tips about possible goings on in government, but won't break the story. When I was a kid, there was this guy named Ed Marshall. He would ask people to give him a call with any wrongdoings they see happening. Even as a child, I remember this guy always had interesting news reports. Maybe we need someone like that back in Lafayette. A reporter with the courage to step forward.
