Anyone else find it strange that neither the tv stations or the daily fish wrap has done a story on the massive traffic jams we are having here this week? Have you been on amb caffery, johnston, camillia or guilbeau etc.? I guess they haven't . How long will the local media cover for dunce and his lack of foresight and planning? I did read one pitiful excuse this morning, it sounded like a puff piece and a joke to me. But wait in maybe a week or two the w broussard debacle MIGHT be open, probably after Christmas I guess. Vote all these incompetents out.

Who knows T, they might not want it open because more people would have to go to the government sponsored events at Vermilionville. Ya know it's all about getting more of our money ain't it? Oh btw Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

Is it my imagination or does anyone else notice a total lack of coverage of "the Christmas celebration at Acadian Village"? I remember in the past the tv stations especially channel 10 being heavily involved in promoting this very worthwhile project. Wonder if I'm crazy or something has changed?

ABBD, a lot of folks left the forum of the LDA. Most are now posting on the Forum index-Acadiana community, A lot of your friends are there.

I was in LDA checking on the birth announcements and people are able to comment via the LDA forum, but no one normally does. To my surprise, people had actually started talking about why half of the birth announcements included parents who weren't married. Did you know that the forum moderator gave a stern talking-to to the posters saying that the birth announcement board was meant for happy announcements. Someone replied saying that "MOMBLOGS" is not news, but LDA puts that in its local news section.

coolboy, we left b/c of a series of "dressing downs" by Mr. Decker concerning our behavior that at times has been juvenile, but not entirely out of hand. I posted what I think is really going on concerning that board at the forum that taureau mentioned above. www.acadiana.la/forum/fusionbb.php?The Momblog stuff got out of hand. It was being handled by fellow posters, but Mr. Decker felt the need to delete our posts. There had been plenty of recent complaints that we were posting under "monikers", hiding behind our names, etc... The baby nonsense was just an excuse to censor. The discussion was about single parents, not any one particular person in the announcements.

Well, I praised LDA but the gripes have started back up. A US Army soldier from Lafayette, Mark Graham (may God bless him and his family), died from injuries he sustained in Iraq. LDA has him in their "Worth a Click" section of its website. I haven't been watching tv lately, so I don't know of TV10 or Channel 3 are mentioning him. I tell you what though...they sure can't stop with Thornton Gross. So a suspected murderer and admitted sexual predator gets waaaay more time in the news than someone who died for their country? The only thing about the Gross story that seems important is how the DA dropped the ball...yet again.
The reason why I quit watching tv lately is because I enjoy watching news channels. Unfortunately, everything turned into the Anna Nicole Smith Show as of late. Personally, it's a shame the woman died, but I do not consider that enough to garner so much attention. I hate that reputable news sources such as CNN, MSNBC and others have become Entertainment Tonight! No wonder we have no idea what's going on in the world.
I remember when a mini war broke out with Hezbollah last year. I was vacationing in Italy at the time and it was all over the news there. I came back to the US and all the news stations were talking about John Karr being expedited from Thailand for the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey. Which was a waste, because he didn't even do it!
We need some new news sources that are serious. No more of these soft stories and glorifying criminals.

if you can't tell by the other post i stopped reading the daily aggravation...........for once i have to agree with "Fuzzy"i.e. Louis, they don't have any thing good to report on. The other thing is the Advocate has two articles about Lafayette in today's paper........the Aggravation did not have either one of them in today's print.....................what a bunch of crap.........local paper don't report on crap in their own backyard

Well "Cool", the Daily Disappointment had those two articles just the very next day. This confirms my long held belief that the Advertiser reads other papers to get its' news. Why waste money on reporters ?
Let's face it, the reporters they employ do not do anything but "report" what is told them, they certainly do not ask questions.

Neutered news. Lafayette's version of news is whatever the local elected officials want spoon fed to the masses. Need a tax passed? just call your local in my pocket reporter. The River Ranch hole in the fence street should have been a big story but was buried. Seems like the only bad news reported on tv occurs in adjoining parishes.

Booted again by the very unfair practices at the newspapers site. If you disagree with the chosen few,you get the heave ho. Maybe someone will invite the good posters at the newspapers site to come on over here.

IJ, that dude bill is a communists, didnt you know that, I believe I read what you said, it was about the tom carroll activities, I guess someone called bill to make him delete it. It was very juicy if its the same one I read.
And here, speak your mind and say what you gotta say, the rules here a simple and are not changed to suit the needs of what is proper for the Lafayette Elite.
In fact I started my board before the Advertiser thought of doing one, becuase we did not have one for Lafayette, La.
One other thing is that there are heated debates between people, but all posters here respect each other and have a common bond, Lafayette is going to hell in a handbag because of our leaders.
BTW, I am a poster there too as are several other members, but our names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Anyone been listening to KVOL AM these days, especially in the morning - sounds like something good going on there. I usually do the ESPN sports on KPEL but I am getting tired of the baseball all the time routine on that station. Anyway I have enjoyed the local comments and participation on KVOL AM.

The local TV stations election night coverage was horrible. I've never in my life seen such amateurish productions. Was laughable.

I was amused to say the least. On ch 10, we had Blue (mrs dee stanley) looking at Alan Bares, (why is he a political analyst) looking at as laptop linked to secretary of state site while stating the obvious; Foti is in trouble, Jindal has jumped way out front, Odom may be in a runoff. And no returns from Lafayette until very late. Ch 3 was better, but if you watch Baton Rouge or Lake Charles, there was an air of competence during broadcasts.

Zoe and Percy--I've noticed all you do is criticize the Council, City Parish President, Clerk of Court, Sheriff, Assessor, Advertiser, TV Stations... Do you have anything good to say about anything or anyone???
