Luke Skywalker. He got rid of Jabba once already.
I have noticed a subtle push by the Advertiser to get rid of current District Attorney and replace him with Mike Skinner of democratic party fame who just got behind our illustrous mayor at his fund raising soiree'. I am not endorsing current District Attorney, but I do not wish to see another politician who is in bed with Durel on one side, and Glen Armentor on the other. That cannot be good.
I think Lafayette thrives on mediocre politicians.

I think Joey will run unopposed. Joey's a Republican, so no opposition from that side. Democrats are throwing him fundraisers, so no opposition from there either. Maybe Ralph Nader's available?

Apparently Allied Waste is having some problems in collections. Those problems would appear to trigger a clause in their exclusive contract with LCG about being penalized for non-performance.
So, what do our LCG leaders do? Rather than issue a statement that the contract will be enforced and AWM will be penalized to the fullest extent allowed by the contract, “Dee Stanley, chief administrative officer for Lafayette Consolidated Government, said there are no plans to penalize the company.”
What a message to send to a company with a public contract; Keep screwing up, for whatever the reason and we will do nothing about it.
One would hope that Joey has admonished Dee for such a statement.

No, Dee will not be admonished, because the administration is arrogant, and that statement expresses their attitude. I bet Joey or Dee do not have trash collection problems.
And, we were able to locate an engineering firm in Georgia to tell us how to lay cable for only $5,000,000. I bet there are no engineers in Louisiana who could do such a complicated task. Much like Gov Blankstare hiring incompetents from Virginia to miss-manage the "Road Home". Now she is running commercials saying what a great thing the program is......Who is paying for that propaganda?

Well, everyone knows how I feel about government in "business", what used to be called socialism. I would have much preferred that LUS laid fiber and charged Cox & BellSouth. No risk that way. Does anyone out there feel confident about the business acumen of our city leaders

Have you ever noticed how well the medians are maintained. How the grass is growing through the concrete all over town. How well the litter is picked up (even with the 100,000 spies of Mr Durel). How clean the Courthouse is. No doubt our standards for telephone and cable service will be just as well maintained.

The best part about it is there is currently fiber hooked to city/parish buildings and whatever anitvirus email protection they are using it aint working, several people have told me that their servers are unprotected or have inadequate protection, the servers are constantly letting viruses through email to government pcs infecting systems, unlike cox, bellsouth, or other major corps, these companies will block most harmful emails going to you so it doesnt infect their servers although once and awhile one will get through. So if you get fiber when Joey runs it you better be ready.
