Okay people, this is our much awaited election year. We have a race for Governor, for Lt Governor, for Attorney General, and on a local level for Clerk of Court. Any gossip ? What are issues ? Who is pulling for who, and why ?
Are we back to whoever has the biggest checkbook again, or are we going to examine records of incumbent officials and hold them accountable ? Do we vote by party, or by what candidate tells us ?
Are Jindal and Landrieu a lock ? I keep hearing that Mr Foti is in for a rough run. Is the gossip in our courthouse correct ? Is the DA going to indict someone that holds office; will he do his job?

Governor: still undecided. I like Jindal, but do not want to go w/him just because we goofed up last time. I am also interested in Georges, though I do not know much about him.
Lt Governor: I like Sammy, and he may well be far better than Landrieu. On the other hand, if Lt Gov has to replace Gov for any reason, I do not know if I want Sammy there. Then again, Minnesota had a wrestler/actor, and he was not so bad.
Attorney General: I cannot vote for Foti after those despicable trials with doctor from New Orleans and the retirement home in Chalmette. I will vote for the District Attorney from Caldwell Parish.
Clerk of Court: I have heard nothing positive about the present Clerk. He is too involved in politics and I believe he wants to be somewhere else (congress). Why not give someone else a shot ? I will vote for Lehman.
Council and legislature: too many to discuss, will wait for runoff first. I think we will have 9 new council members. I hope the northside rejects Williams; he is an embarrassment for Lafayette and a reminder of the Blanco influence.

Is anyone following the legislative races ? I do not know the candidates, or their platforms. All I hear is all of them telling us how ethical they are, and how they are going make everything better. They just do not say how.
I for one would like to hear some specifics.

Nick, you hit it on the head. I know I have had more than enough of Michot and his RINO group. I am not a fan of Durel either, but will vote that way because it is the lesser of two evils. Michot does not need a puppet.
Lot of money is being spent for a mere legislative race. Our Clerk's race is about to get hot as well, and I suspect the incumbent will not be able to stand on his record. In fact, he may have a record when the dust settles.
How is sheriff's race in Acadia going ? Looks like it is fiercely contested.
