I was playing around today wondering what argument would Cox have to get someone to pick their services over DirecTV, so I called their call center (and I actually got through to the one here in Lafayette...I was surprised). When I posed the question "What sets Cox apart from satellite by DirecTV, the person on the phone said, "DirecTV doesn't offer local channels." I'm not stupid, so I was on the Internet at work and quickly went to DirecTV's website. Here is the link I found that lists Lafayette, LA as being one of the places where local channels are available: www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPage.jsp?assetId=1000013Caught in a lie, the customer service person said she was told by her manager to tell callers this statement in order to turn them off about DirecTV. I don't know what was worse, Cox telling their employees to lie or the rep ratting out her boss, which was unprofessional. Kind of makes you wonder. That should show us all that Cox will resort to any unethical means just to get ahead.

Ill agree with that they are a bunch of liars, they quote you one price for package deals, then when you get the bill in its more than their quote, a bunch of thieves

Well Coolboy, as a technical matter, Direct does not offer local channels, but they will install an antenna that will allow you to pick up local tv. It is not as good reception as what you will get on cable, because it is a little better than "rabbit ears", depends on your line of sight, trees etc. So it is not as bad a lie as one of Bill Clintons, who BTW has been very quiet on the page scandal. I have found that they all bend the truth to make a sale, and services are similar. It will be no better if Lafayette enters the business, and likely will get worse because, government is after all government.
I used to have a big "C" band dish, and everything was free. Talk about spoiled, and weather did not affect picture like the little dishes. I never lost my excellent picture, even during Andrew.

Coolboy, I have direct tv and I have the local channels. My reception is every bit as good as cable. Years ago, they added an other antenna but now it is all one. I invite you to come and test it out and see for yourself. I have great reception, except during a heavy rain but once the heavy rains stop, you're back up.
