I've been back in Lafayette for less than a year. Can someone fill me in as to why Jerry Lane wasn't confirmed by Dr. Easton for the Northside head basketball coach job? Ricky Hardy mentioned something about it not being good to bring Lane to Northside. Can someone help me out? Excuse me if I seem like I've been living under a rock.

Coolboy, don't feel bad; I have been living here a long time but I don't know Jerry Lane, other than the car dealer DAWLIN. Coolboy, You said you have been back for about a year; where did you move from? Are you originally from here? BTW, I have to ask, who's ya mommy and do you know how to make a roux? My guess is Ricky doesn't think Jerry Lane should be there because Jerry is not from North Side. I bet he can balance a check book though.

I lived in Lafayette until I was 23, then left for the military. I married a New Yorker who was also in the military. My wife remained in the Army while I got out to pursue my college degree. We moved to Lafayette around November of last year. My wife thinks Lafayette is a cheap place to live (compared to New York) and she enjoys the quiet life.
Although Lafayette is growing in population, I wish that some of our fellow citizens would come back to make this area better. For example, many of my friends from high school that went to college all left Louisiana and are doctors, lawyers, or are doing great things in life. While all of the troublemakers, drug dealers, and lowlifes are still in Lafayette! Not saying I want everyone to stay, but I wish it wasn't such a disproportionate number of bad people staying to good people leaving.
Yes, I can make roux and gumbo, which made me quite popular in the military. Except for this one jerk that said my gumbo was too "watery". OK guy, you're from Idaho and I was taught how to make gumbo from generations of family members in southern Louisiana.
