Someone brought up a great point in the fishwrap's opinion section. Ricky Hardy, a school board member, was the person that introduced the 12 year term limit idea. Some board members, including Mr. Hardy, are reaching the 12 year mark and are running again. The term limits take effect on the next four-year cycle, so these people are eligible to run again.
If Mr. Hardy thinks that 12 years is plenty to serve on the school board, then why is he running for a fourth term in office that will take him up to 16 years?
Interesting.

The term limits for school board members BEGIN with this election, folks. The term year limits clock starts with this election cycle.
The fact that a number of members have been on the board for a number of years does not play into term limits, other than for the obvious political rhetoric.

Oh yes, the third ring of our human three ring circus. LPSB, what a joke. I couldn't vote for any of the current members. They hi-five each other and our school system falls further and further behind. Such a waste of tax dollars. I swear if I were a lpsb board memeber I would be embarressed to show my face in public. But alas lafayette is in love with it's sleazy politicians and most will be re-elected.

Abbd, I used to have sympathy for the school board somewhat. Then someone made a good point. Dr. Easton created three area director positions with a hefty salary for each. Remember there was something about these three putting in expense vouchers for trips and one even paying for he and his wife to eat out (plus a hefty tip for the waitress). How is it that the school system got along well without these three people, but now we need them? I also didn't like the fact that Easton has these Cajundome rallies for teachers. Do teachers really need a rah-rah to get them ready for the upcoming school year? They are coming back from a three-month break...teachers should already be rejuvenated.
