I just read that a Lafayette High basketball player will play in a playoff game tonight. Sounds great? Unfortunately he was arrested last weekend for "illegal use of weapons, possession of marijuana, illegal use of a controlled drug and illegal carrying of a weapon."
The coach, instead of holding his player responsible says, "It’s an in-house matter." Apparently, their reasoning for letting this kid play anyway was that it did not happen on school grounds. Does that really matter? A kid with a gun and drugs is just as dangerous no matter where he is. This is why I will never let a child of mine go to a Lafayette public school.
I am currently e-mailing all school board members (with valid e-mail addresses) notifying them of this situation.

The kid has the makings of a future NBA All-Star. it is pathetic when charges of this gravity do not even get you booted off a high school team. I remember when a "C" grade got you cut from team.
