Well, at least when Kenny Bowen was there, he could make a decision. Also was a pretty good vocalist.

I read a very interesting article in the Independent about the bugging of the office of the Chief’s secretary. According to the article, the Chief thought he had ordered video surveillance of the office. This was is response to that LT who is now working full time in River Ranch. Now, the surveillance was ordered in response to an investigation of the LT’s double dipping time, working for US, the taxpayers and the nice folks at RR at the same time. ((Actually, that is payroll fraud, Mr. DA. Why don't you step up to the plate on that one. Not to mention ethical violations, free dry cleaning for running down bad checks, any body want to file a complaint with the Ethics Commission)) What on earth would hope to be accomplished by VIDEO surveillance in this scenario.
Can someone please explain that to me?

Well Percy, I wonder about the point you raised re: the D A not lifting a finger about this mess. I think when a DA or any other polotician neglects the duties he is sworn to do, he should leave. In the old days the crime was called malfeasance; failure to do your job. Then one might ask why the attorney general or US Attorney doesn't step in and ask that the job be done ? I know that it is not political (right). Maybe the Lt was doing the DA's laundry as well.

Uh-oh, Ex Chief Hundley wants his job back. Whoooo doggie, this could get really good. Saw dee(looked a slight bit annoyed to me, ya know being questioned ain't his favorite thing) alil while ago sayin the chief wasn't being welll hmmmm let's say he said the chief was misstaken, neither he or his (tax and spend liberal with an r behind his name) boss ever ever, even hinted that the chief resign.(joey said summin like...guess da chief been reading the press reports? ) Hmmm chief says they did. He said, he said, who ya gonna believe. Will the whole story come out now? Getting me a cool drink and a bag of peanuts and gonna watch this play out. By the way it was on channel 3, looks like channel 10 and the daily fish wrap ain't got the story yet or maybe they won't even cover it. Wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah kinda looks like he quit to cash his check instead taking a chance on losing his $50,000.00. Now that he cashed it they wont make him give it back, sounds kinda crooked to me.

Poor Chief Hundley.
We can’t say that he was a victim of the Potomac two step ( Clear and Present Danger ), how about the “Vermilion chamaeleon.”
There is no doubt in my mind that crimes were committed as indictments against sworn law enforcement officers were returned (I am sure that the Grand Jury did not relish in their duties that day).
There is no doubt in my mind that the Dural administration would like this all to go away as they have said so publically on many occasions. As happened so often in this “open” administration Joey does not want the whole truth to ever see the light of day, ink to paper, magnetic particles to video tape, etc. Never the less, rumor has it that the indicted officers, Hundley excepted, were offered plea bargains.
I suspect that Hundley, was offered a deal by the Durel administration if he “retired.” After Hundley retired, Joey said that perhaps he should have appointed someone else as Chief and the deal fell apart. Now Hundley is left with out a job and without a deal and he is not happy about it. Of course the administration says the offer of a deal to Hundly is ludicrous and ridiculous. (Those hard to spell words tell me something.)
Perhaps Hundley should have remembered the “Pelican Brief” when the director of the FBI has a taped conversation of the president telling the director to forget about Matise as a suspect in the murders of the two Justices.
Or, maybe Hundley did remember the movie? Or kept a written journal? Perhaps Hundley should gather up all his tapes, notes and whatever, have a big press conference and let the cards fall where they may. If that happens, I suspect the Grand Jury will be meeting again, this time to be presented conspiracy charges against Joey and Dee, among others.

I see joey in his infinite wisdom and vast wealth of (lack of)knowledge concerning public safety and crime prevention, is going to do a nationwide search for a new police chief all by himself! Wow just wait to see the travel $$$$ we gotta cough up(or maybe spit up(vomit if ya like) is more appropriate) for this search. Hell he searched as far as his daddy's pet shop for the last chief of police, I can't wait to see what we get with he and jabba doing the interviewing.

Abbd, Joey's probably going to perform a 3-week search in Hawaii, then come back and promote the interim police chief! HA!
This isn't like hiring a new cashier to run credit checks on expensive iguanas in your pet store. It's one of the most important positions in the city and there shouldn't be any room for mistakes. The cardinal rule for Joey to remember is DO NOT NOMINATE FRIENDS!

I know, let's make Jabba the chief. He seems to know everything.
Seriously, a local person from outside the department should be able to handle the job. Anyone from within will have the same prejudices as Hundley or Craft. It is after all an administrative position. Let Nickey Picard be chief for a year or two,( or a retired deputy sheriff or trooper; someone with a little law enforcement experience will do) we do not really need a city marshall anyway. A "nationwide" search sounds impressive to people who do not know any better, but do we really need some guy from Wisconson or Massachusetts to try and learn from scratch ? Isn't that what Roland Dart was ?
Friends are okay, just not stupid incompetent friends.

Did I hear Dee on TV last night say that Hundley "betrayed" Joey?
What's up with that?
I still say Hundley needs to call a big press conference and tell all.

Yeah Percy, You heard correctly. I assume that those words "he betrayed joey"(if he yells it next time, he'll sound just like his idol algore) are the new joey talking points. Expect to hear that early and often and often and often.

Did anyone notice the paper where the City-Parish budget was published ? Specifically, that the city police budget was $23,000,000? Did anyone notice that the Sheriff's budget is only about $26,000,000. If the Sheriff has 500 deputies, 300 cars, operates a large jail, collects taxes, serves civil process why is LPD budget almost as big ? They do not do nearly as much as the Sheriff's Office. Can anyone say waste ?

I've been too busy to actually review the budget, but that is very interesting. We should try to get the LPD and Sheriff's offices consolidated on the next ballot.
Zoe, for bringing this to my attention, you win a "Randy Hundley for Sheriff" button, which will be pinned on you by Dee Stanley! Congrats!

The Lafayette Police Department and The Fire Department have each their own budget. The LCG's meeting of 2 weeks ago when Joey Durel unveiled his "ways and means" plan to generate money said from 1997 to now, the 2 budgets has grown 100% each.
Durel also said total number of employees was 2204 and there were 35 new jobs posted to be filled.
Durel also said, everyone complaining about traffic but really he does not see any real problems with it; not from where he lives. I don't know where he lives but everywhere I drive I see a lot of traffic.

I assume you meant 224 positions. Durel sees no problems with traffic. Does ostrich come to mind ? The LPD has a budget of $23 MILLION dollars ? You have got to be kidding. It is way past time to get rid of LPD and merge them into Sheriff's Office. Get rid of that civil service crap at the same time.

I do not think Dee Stanley will pin a Randy Hundley for anything button on anyone. Betrayed Joey ? Joey has betrayed us.
