We have a City Marshall race that is heating up. The long time incumbent is being challenged by one of his top ranking deputies and a deputy sheriff. Evidently, a lot of money is being raised and spent.
I am not clear on why we even need a city court system anymore, much less a city marshal.
How much does this office cost ? How much does the marshal actually make (above stated salary) ? What could be saved and applied to streets by eliminating this court system ?
Why wouldn't an 84 year old man not want to retire and let a younger person take his place ? How can his son be his chief deputy ?
Just wondering.
