what most drives you up the wall when driving around town, or on highway ?
In Lafayette, besides the last three jerks that run each red light, I despise the guys who putter along at 5-10 mph below the posted speed limit, and maintain about 30-40 car lengths distance from vehicle in front of them; carrying defensive driving a bit too far, and ensuring that one catches every light twice and encouraging drivers to get around them.
I passed a girl today on Kaliste Saloom at a dead stop in the left lane with 8 cars behind her who decided that she wanted to turn right, and was evidently passing where she needed to turn.
The idiots who run a light and get caught in the middle of an intersection.
The highway drivers who refuse to pull to the right no matter what.
The highway drivers who decide to pass at 1 mph faster than the guy they are "passing".
I just felt like venting.

Everything you just said and a few more like a few people who have nowhere to go and just want to drive around town.
The amount of people on the road when they should be working, during normal business hours. I took a day off on friday and could not believe the amount of people on the roads during working hours say 10:00 am in the morning. We must have half of this parish unemployed. Not to mention the stay at home women of the rich who think they own the road in their suvs. Driving around to do what, but spend money they didnt earn.

I think the state could generate a lot of money by ticketing all of those left lane hogs who will not pull over, and most are Texans anyway. That is what irritates me the most when i am on highway. I too have been behind those guys (& gals) who maintain 20 car lengths in traffic. I think TBear is right, where the heck are they going, and why don't they want to get there ?

Hey Zoe and T-Bear, that person driving belong below the posted speed may be me. I am retired and not in a hurry. Just taking time to spell the roses. Just kidding. It aggravates me to. I drive across Camille Blvd. often; with a speed of 35mph I very seldom see anyone driving the posted speed. More like 45. I did notice Police on Moto writing tickets. I can't believe the city will install a sound wall. That money and the money spend on Ambassador Caffery across from Wal-Mart could have gone for better use in my opinion. They should by, "Honte". Don't get me started. Bye

The wall is ugly. I wish someone would plant a vine on it or something for aesthetics.
Does the sound barrier work ?

I'll agree to that Taureau, there were alot of other things to spend money on.
I havent been behind it but Ill be you it doesnt work as good as its supposed to. I dont think its high enough to elimate the sound.
Maybe the city can hire someone to paint a murial on it of our city parish council men arguing with each other. You can have Dee and Durel on either side of the council with some birds from the pet shop flying around them.

Hard to paint a wall full of holes.
I expected a concrete wall, which via its density would actually block sound. I suppose the plastic wall helps disperse sound ?
It's the monkey's on the telephone in the left hand lane that I want to blow up. You can flash the lights, honk, does not affect them. I would love to egg their windsheilds once around them, but they probably would not notice anyway.

I was driving down my 2 lane city street. I have a clear lane, the opposite lane has a car parked on the side of the street and here comes a car going the opposite direction (2 lane street); from I and we meet at this parked car at about the same time. The car in the opposite lane expects me to move farther over to my right in order for him to negotiate around this parked car. I have seen this several times and often wondered why should I pull over? Why shouldn't the other car stop in the clear or rear of the parked car and when I get by then he could continue? Has anyone else ever notice this? We were about to have a headon meet.

Taureau, it happens to me all the time. I wonder what is taught in drivers ed nowadays? Apparently not common courtesy. This is where road rage begins; when you meet people who think their time is more important than you. Willl not yield, will not grant right of way, will not move over, will cut in front of a line and not even wave.

I have this hysterical friend Gina (normally the image and voice of a perfect Southern Alabama lady) whose pet driving peeve is people who don't wave a thank you when you do them a traffic favor. I was with her one day and witnessed such a happening. I laughed so hard I cried. Here was this poor schmuck exiting Wally World on Ambassador who Gina allows to pull out in front of her and when he doesn't wave, not only does she curse the poor soul to high heaven, but she actually jerks into the left lane, gets level with him and honks until he looks over and she gestures her sentiments. She then proceeds to revert her attention back to the road, smooth her hair and re-enter the conversation we were involved in prior to the, um, incident.
It was awesome.

Gotta love those southern belles.
Tuesday night, late, wreck on thruway, suv flipped over, turns out some idiot had removed a manhole cover. That person should be shot. And the car hit someone on a bicycle. No one killed.
Just wanted to let everyone know that there are worse things to hit than speed lumps on Lafayette streets.

Regarding poor driving habits and road rage, I have always wondered why they ticket you for road rage, and send you to anger management class? Why don't they ticket the person that is causing the road rage? That would make more sense to me.

Because those are the self-righteous people who insist on driving slow in the passing lane whilst taking approx 4 miles to pass a truck and then wondering why you are mad when you finally get around them.
Why do people go through bank drive-ins when they are not prepared for a quick transaction ? Do people know what express means anymore ? That is why the banks have drive-in tellers - for people in a hurry, not for some dummy to sit in line, talk on the phone, and when it is their turn, they fill out check, deposit etc. and then ask for balances in their accounts . That is another cause of rage.

a bunch of people driving around all day with nothing to do and their heads in their behinds, especially those broads on the cells, driving their SUVs that their husbands bought for them, one nearly t-boned me the other day when she ran the red light.
Again, I want to know who is working for a living, the traffic at 10:00 am in this city is getting more and more ridiculous. Get the hell out of the way and let the people that have to work do their jobs.

Saw her. Had to go back to the bank and there she was. Volvosuv., big hair and all. On the redlight cameras, have had a change of heart. I now embrace big brother and all that he stands for. Power to the government, onward smart growth, love the government telling me where I may live and please tax me more. Hail the elected ones for thje are our saviours. Joey for king forever.

I can't wait to see the cameras catch the Durel's, Stanley's, and council members. See how they like it then. I suspect views may change.
I hope you are joking ij; big brother is not there to help us, merely to control us, and fleece as much money as they can. Questionable tickets (illegal, unvoted on tax), payment in lieu (another illegal, unvoted on tax), elevated water bills (again,no vote) you name it. And yet, they cannot get trash picked up, nor can they get the grass cut on the medians. No money in it.
