What are some of your favorite shortcuts in town to avoid traffic?
Tonight, after months of driving my daughter every Wednesday afternoon from midtown Lafayette to River Ranch during rush hour, I finally figured out how to avoid that awful Johnston St./Camellia Blvd. intersection. I'm probably the last person to figure out to turn down Rena Drive and cut through that neighborhood to the street with the light and turn left onto Camellia. We probably cut 5-10 minutes off the trip each way.
Also, a lot of people cut through that old K-Mart (future courthouse) parking lot off Ambassador Caffery and take the back road to avoid the Johnston St./AmbC intersection. That saves a lot of time too.

I use the K-Mart lot (future courthouse) all of the time. Also go out of my way and use E Broussard to get around Ambassador mess. Also use Broadmoor and come out by Chili's on Ambassador. Any way to stay off of Ambassador helps. Ambassador is the new Johnston Street for traffic jams. I go to Lowes/Home Depot a lot. The old College/W Bayou/Riversbend/Robley route still works. Too many stop signs though. Wait till the new complex on Bertrand /Eraste Landry opens up. Ditto for complex at end of K Saloom @ E Broussard. Yeah, we have a planning commission.

Whew, I'll have to think about that one, I use so many shortcuts its hard to count them to get around this city. Robley is also eventually supposed to connect from Caffery to East Broussard, so that should help, when I dont know. And Zoe, they already started putting people in the d**n complex Kaliste at E. Broussard, I see cars sitting waiting there every morning to get out of it with an awestruck look on their face. DUH

I just had a capital idea. How about we find the busiest intersection in the city and have council meetings in that area. This would give the council members a first-hand look at what their constant approval of development projects is doing to this city.
Also, let's level Joey's private road to his mansion. These people aren't better than us.

I agree. Let them drive Ambassador Caffery/Kaliste Saloom Road at 4:00 PM, or 12:00 PM and see how well the Trammel school of traffic management works. I think there are ways to move traffic that would not cost so much. Perhaps if the council or president had to deal with it, they would address the issue in some way other than the old "let's tax um" theory of government.

I once had Trammel pave my driveway from the garage to the sidewalk. An hour after he was done, there were already 10 cars stuck in traffic!
My poor attempt at humor, folks!
