who cares what the name of the road is- its not big enough for the traffic- its amazing that city council wastes time on subjects such as that- fix the problem first then re-name it if you want

I think they should rename Kaliste Saloom Rd. to Martin Luther King RD. Have you people notice all the streets built on Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery which connect deadend streets, has nothing to do with traffic flow but everything to do with increased property value. Examples, Road from St Thomas Moore to Comeaux High School a 4 lane road with no traffic, Settlers Trace in River Ranch goes from Steiner Road to Farrell both dead end roads, Camelia Blvd at Kaliste Saloom Rd a beautiful 4 lane road to a dead end. When I purchase land in a subdivision I pay for roads folded into the cost of my lot. These property owners get millions for their property and we the taxpayers pay for their roads, is this fair?

The best one is Camelia that crosses Kaliste Saloom rd and stops against some pine trees. I know that the plan is the extend it to Verot School rd. Thats brilliant, dump four lane traffic to a substandard two lane road that is already congested to the point of pulling your hair out and screaming everytime you drive on it. Mr Durel has already said the city cannot afford to redo Verot School rd without the funds from the State who has now told them all projects have been cancelled until further notice. Wow, what a city.

And what if a group of vocal citizens decided to rename Moss Street to Robert E Lee Parkway. And Northside High to PGT Beauregard High ?
There would be outrage from Mssers Benjamin/Williams for sure. And I would agree for the same reason that I oppose a change to Willow, however, if residents petition for and majority decides on it, then so be it.
I think the quest for service roads was a worthy cause to pursue....It would make a difference. And the frontage roads could be called MLK North, and MLK South. No one could really object, and the roads would be heavily used.
But of course, compromise is not what the Williams people are after is it ?

One has to ask, would the memory, the legacy of the late Reverend Dr. King be best served by naming a heavily traveled, major commercial arterial street(Verot?, Willow?) is his honor or by naming a less traveled, fairly quite street in a residential neighborhood after him? I would tend to think the latter rather than the former.
