Why doesn't our crack investigative news teams look into this whole mess? I see an assistant district attorney handling the lawsuit for the police (what does he get, 1/3 ?), I see the former city attorney defending the city interest (?) getting paid by the hour, and I believe his law partner is the District Attorney(the sign on his office says so anyway). Is there any ethics in this town? I think we are getting as corrupt as New Orleans was.

Well, the rumor mill must be true, the chief is on "administrative leave", ie. full pay for not going to work, and does not even lose vacation pay.
And the mayor wanted to solve the problem internally? More lumps under the rug.
Shouldn't a person forfeit benefits if in fact they violate the law, particularly in law enforcement. I for one think public officials should be held to a higher standard.
Are you listening Mr Michot ? How about some legislation on that?

‘”I was a little surprised that it got to that level before we could do anything internally,”? Durel said. ‘ according to a story in The Advocate expressing dismay that the DA was now involved in an investigation that Durel obviously wanted to keep internal. Just what does Dural mean? Did Dural want to sweep this mess under that now very lumpy rug as he did with that LT who worked in River Ranch while on duty? The same LT whose investigation was handled "internally." The same LT was that was on paid administrative leave until his retirement papers went through.
Does any body see a pattern here?

Well, the plot thickens. D.A. says others assisted chief in wiretap(police officers). Why not just fire the secretary if she was so much trouble, or didn't that occur to anyone downtown?
Maybe we could just put the whole force on administrative leave, pay them to stay home, and hope the Sheriff picks up the slack. As is often the case, rules often do not apply to those who write/enforce them.

Our keystone cops had the entire south Lafayette blocked off to traffic (K Saloom) because someone robbed a clothing store . This was 11:30 last night. C'mon, how many shirts can one carry, and what good does blocking and re-routing traffic do ?
Sounds as if the level of ineptness does not stop at wiretaps.
