Won't happen. Who are you kidding ? The overcharges will continue. There will be no improvements to any software packages for several reasons, not the least of which is he changes computer people like he changes his socks. Ask his former d.p. people; no love lost there. There will be no money given to parish because legally no taxing entity may give up their own funds for an unrelated function ie. new building. Besides, is a parish responsibility, not the D.A., Clerk, Assessor or Sheriff's problem. Retirement is a state responsibility, not parish (or Clerk's).

well looks like the same old same old at the court house. Sad faces looking foward to 4:30 "I just need to get out of there", I must of hear this two or three times this week. I hope Perret took some notice to what was beening said and tries to help and fix-up what he has done to that work environment. Come on Perret I know you are reading this, help the Institutional employees get what they need to be happy and content in there Jobs. It is your duty and responsiblity to do this.

"to the victor belong the spoils”
The timeless expression attributed to Senator William L. Marcy representing the State of New York and first used in a debate in Congress in 1831.

Well, I guess it has begun.
Our esteemed Clerk of Court has fired 2 employees. More will follow.
A couple of days ago, at the voting machine warehouse, Perret publically "dressed down" former Clerk of Court Ann Ardoin for not supporting him. Perret actually went so far as to tell Ardoin that she was "not welcome in my office." Considering the fact that Perret won the election, he appears to be quite bitter about it.
Remember: Still, he said, "I thought somebody would run by now. I don't know what to do because I don't have any pposition." and "You'd kind of look foolish," he said.
Yes, you do look foolish, Perret. And more and more people are taking notice as your "cloak of invisibility " is being lifted.
Miss Ann served the public of this parish for over 30 years with honor and distinction.
That is something that we hope we can never say about the current clerk.

it was so nice to see Perret at his old stomping ground waiting tables.
kinda of like delivering cars to a congressman's kid in DC or picking up the MC at the airport at 2am in the morning in new orleans. or driving the MC hither and yonder
all stuff that Perret is very well suited for....

I am hearing some rumbles about a courthouse investigation. Does anyone out there know if this is true, and if so who or what does it involve.

I heard from 2 different (and not connected) sources that here was a legislative auditor’s investigation into some aspect of the civil advance cost account and the salary fund account at the clerk’s office, dealing with advance cost refunds of civil cases that have been abandoned. Specifically, the clerk was not refunding advance cost deposits as required by law but was moving advance cost deposits from abandoned civil cases into the salary fund, which is illegal.
If what I heard is true, the incumbent clerk is in serious trouble. Other clerks have been forced out of office for doing the same thing.

That is what I heard. It had something to do with the salary fund and another Clerk in another parish was forced out for the same issue. That does not sound good at all. It would seem that LJP would have learned from the other Clerks mistake. I guess he believes just like most other reelected public officers that he is untouchable, or is it he just does not know the law. Don't these officers talk to other official before they make decision that could cause them to lose there office. This gives me such confedience in Lafayettes leadership.

The former Madison Parish Clerk of Court was very recently sentenced to 4 months in federal prison for indiscretions committed while Clerk. Nothing in the daily disappointment about it.
Perhaps, soon, our esteemed Clerk will join her!

Somehow I see someone sitting in the courthouse looking out the window and musing :" Ask not for whom the bell tolls, the bell tolls for thee". Those are footsteps you hear and they are getting closer. Sometimes you win the battle, but lose the war.

Does any one remember the game of musical chairs.
When the music stops, every one grabs a chair.
The one left without a chair to sit on is left standing and is out of the game.
The clerk is playing musical offices. A little harder to play but same results.
And by the way, this thread started with the phone system. I bet you a dollar to a doughnut that the all of the judges and the DA do not know that every incoming call and every outgoing call is logged by the Clerk's phone system.
I sure hope that those logs do not prove embarrassing for any one of them, after all, every call log is public record. And the call logs can not be destroyed for the same reason.
OOPs, I bet Perret never told them about that one.
The same for all e-mails. The clerk provides e-mail service to the Judges and the DA. All of the e-mail going through the clerk’s server is public record and is or should be archived. Even the White House has gotten into trouble about e-mails and archives.
OOPs again, I bet Perret never told them about that one too!
If I were a Judge or the DA, I would be damned concerned about both.

It is a fact I personally saw today that moves are taking place. Time to shake things up again. Lets see if thing fall right, Give out big raises, tell them there doing a nice job and bang move them. Thats about how thats works.
Phone system how about telling the public law office that there call are also being recorded. No one mention that to me. Remember I cannot bring in my cell phone in and there are no public coin operated phone outside of the office. WOW I have told my boss if he calls me to talk no client Info should be discussed. I have asked other and they did not know about this ether.

I would be willing to bet that those e-mails and phone records are not officially kept by the Clerk. The judges and DA would kill him, especially if they knew he was reading their confidential messages and knows who they talk to, but they do not know who he talks to. "Oh what a tangled web we weave....". I have a pretty good feeling that the deception will catch up pretty soon. Wonder if the DA will do his job when the time comes ?

So that means the records exist "unofficially"? The records exist or they do not exist.
All phone logs are public record, period.
All e-mails are public record, period.
Destruction of any of those logs and e-mails would be a relative felony, and if destroyed, that would be mutiple counts, making it a very serious felony.

I hope that an aspiring divorce attorney does not ask for the phone logs logs and e-mails, or a jealous wife or husband for that matter.

Is it true that the clerk gave himself a bonus after the election of $18,000 ? That rumor is floating around the office. Seems like he is giving yearly evaluations to employees and some get little or no raise, not even a cost of living, and he gives himself a bonus like that. I hope Gov Jindal and his supposed ethics reform looks at that.

Well, someone was correct; the State Auditor is investigating our esteemed Clerk of Court as we speak. I would love to know exactly what is alleged and being investigated and when the District Attorney will convene a Grand Jury ? I see a lot of nervous faces in the courthouse on the second floor.
Suppose he will make his swearing in ?
