Hey y'all, let's start a Christmas list on what we can buy for our parish president, council, dee, terry, tony etc. I'll start off by suggesting buying joey a dictionary, one that contains real definitions, not what he thinks a word or phrase means...for Conque, a whining or crying towel to use when he needs help fending off "intimidators"and "schoolyard bullies" ... for Mouton. a real haircut, he's starting to resemble "Joe Dirt" more and more at every meeting...ok that's all I have now, sooo please send in y'alls recommendations.

How about manners and a real life for "Dr." Williams and "Mr." Benjamin.
Oh, and maybe even a "get over it" doll for both of them.

T, looks to me that after the latest joey failure maybe jabba has already gotten his fried turkey. I ain't seen OR heard(thankfully) much of ole jabba. Is he the new invisible man? Is he busy behind the scene planning another debacle for dunce?

Well, I saw jabba on the news the other day saying that perhaps the public would reconsider and also dropped a new one on us...to raise salaries for LPD, they could create a taxing district. I recall this being done in New Orleans years ago. What really happened was, a millage was passed with intent on raising salaries for NOPD and money was dedicated to salaries, but the money actually supplanted general funds already used to pay police, so the general fund was relieved of that amount of money that would normally be used to pay police. I would expect the same from our current administration.
Jabba also implied that voters had no idea of the complexities of government and that to build infrastructure would require higher taxes because the money is not there. I am apparently stupid because I am of the belief that if the tax roll goes up $500,000 and sales tax collections go up $millions that that is in fact additional revenue. But then, when a person gets a "step" increase, that is NOT a raise. Bear in mind that most city employees get step increases besides the 4% "raise" just given.

Z,I'm sorry to hear that about jabba. I was hoping he was on his way back to chalmette. I also didn't know that the government employees also got an automatic step raise. I guess I am one of the many here in lafayette "who just doesn't understand". What a shame, I guess i ain't as smart as an arrogant bloated civil servant who thinks he's entitled to use my darn money any way that fat dumb arse thinks he can, including stuffing that fat face of his with free meals provided by taxpayers.

Yeah abbd I thought he was gone too, I thought maybe Joey had enough sense to see when he lets Jabba answer questions he pisses people off, but I guess not. And yeah Z I'm sure they will manipulate that income anyway they can. We must all be stupid becuase usually if you make more income you have more money to spend/save, but of course most of us budget ourselves accordingly, oh d**n did I say something that makes sense, and I'm not even in city government as complexed as it is. BTW saw this on the news last night: www.klfy.com/Global/story.asp?S=5688311Over a dozen hotels? I guess the hotel chains figure we are gonna have alot of hookers setting up shop in the hub city, cause I dont see the need. I posted it here because of the extra tax revenue generated as Gerald Breaux says, so heres some mo money for the motley crew to do with as they please.
