Has any body looked into the legal bills that this administration is racking up?
I understand that LCG could completely fund a small fully staffed law firm on what the LCG is paying attorneys. And I do mean fully staffed, receptionist, paralegals, secretaries, lawyers, law library, office space, etc.

We probably already pay for that.
I mean, really, how does one person justify billing for 2000+ hours a year? No other clients, and works 7 days just for us taxpayers (Ha)

I find it amusing(sad actually) that everytime (at least it seems to me) LUS or LCG goes to court they lose. Are we (the citizens who actually pay for LUS and LCG attorney's legal opinions) getting good advice from our attorneys? This latest ruling should not surprise anyone because if you read the "charter" the judges ruling is perfectly sound.

i wonder if "our"attorneys have even read the charter. My susoicion is no. Ditto for council members and president, and probably CAO. Perhaps we should have a test........

Zoey,Now that would be funny. Have a question a day put to the admin and duncil ooops and oh yeah don't forget "our" legal representation to see if they have a clue. Maybe joey could take the first question. The results should be posted in the daily fishwrap. Take a look at durel's campaign propaganda and see what he said about the charter... we still waiting joey.

I've seen firsthand the types of lawyers that the LCG employs. This one case, where I saw a seasoned lawyer completely manhandle the LCG attorney, who seemed completely out of his element. This was about ten years ago, and I remember being surprised that the city of Lafayette would hire an attorney that was so inexperienced and apparently unproven.

I just read that an attorney representing the administration is considering filing an appeal of the judges ruling on "hearing" utility rate disputes. This is so funny, if the attorney would read the charter (which is posted at this site), even he could see that the (ignored by this administration) charter plainly states that appeals will be heard by the LPUA. Do these folks even bother to read the rules or charter before they issue statements.

I believe there are many top notch attorney's who would work for government for free on important issues (they have already made their money). And let's face it, the one's we hire are apparently not up to speed on basic items, like the parish charter which is supposed to guide our government much as the Constitution guides the rest of us.

Does not even LCG City/Parish Attorney oversee what his subordinates do, or rather don’t do. Don’t they report to him in some form or fashion? Don’t they receive direction from him? Or do they just run amuck as they appear to do?

Good question Percy. Maybe the local fish wrap will question the administration on it's supervision guidelines. Think we should expect those questions soon? Probaly not huh? Think the local fish wrap will ever question this administration on anything? Probably not huh?

I think they just run amuck and collect a pay check. They cant make it in their private practice, nobody will hire them.

It is being reported by KATC that LCG lawyers are appealing a District Judges decision regarding a local subdivision and the Planning Commission failure to take action. (see planning and zoning commission) The statute is crystal clear and state law does triumph over local rules. So, just is what being appealed? Is the appeal being filed at the direction of the LCG attorney that represents the CPC (kind of have to wonder about the ethics of that one) , the Commission? at the direction of Durel? the Council? the City Attorney? Just who ordered that the appeal be filed?
So, again, where is the City-Parish Attorney? Do his subordinates receive direction from him? Do they report to him? Are they answerable to him?
