Ok, the suit is over, the bonds sold (or close to being sold), all of those professional have made their money. What is next? Anyone has any idea when the City will get around to building out the system - which area goes first, what will be offered and at what prices. I am sure there is a report somewhere on this. It would be nice if it would be on the internet. I am getting tired of Cox cable, its slow and interruptable connection and the dumb ads with the blue creepy guy spread everywhere. I will probably switch to the City system just to get away from the plethora of Cox ads . Fubar

And, I guess we are supposed to believe that the request for more money by LUS through rate hikes has nothing to do with the startup of LUS Fiber project, which I am sure is a resounding success. My electric bill and water/sererage bill is substantial enough and if cap and trade is passed on top on LUS hike, what do we do to keep cool in this age of air-conditioning?
T-Bear, how much money does LUS have in the bank? Is that public information, and if not, why not?
It is totally improper for government to have a huge surplus of funds under any circumstance because after all, it is our money, and the surplus indicates an overcharge for the intended mission or a failure to perform the intended mission.

Well folks, a couple of years down the road and Fiber is still losing a lot of money. The project had failure written all over it from the start. It seems that government at every level is infested with bureaucrats who have never been in business acting like they know what it takes to be successful and as they spend our money, they keep crying for more. I am appalled that mayor Durel, who operated a successful business does not step in and say enough. But then, he has not figured out that Redflex is detrimental to us by sending millions out of state.

As a testament to the business acumen of Huval, LUS Director, it seems that the town of Broussard has been bilking millions of gallons of water FOR YEARS, and no one noticed until they asked for more free water.......And this is running the local Water/electricity/phone/cable/internet company.
If that does not give one confidence in an administrator, well??

Now it leaks out that LUS Fiber has been billing LUS illegally for years, ostensibly to help Fiber show a profit. To date, Fiber has shown zero profit and KUS apparently has illegally subsidized operation. Why didn't city lease lines to Cox, AT&T etc. That would have made sense and shown a good business decision. Instead, we have entered the business world to compete where there was zero need to compete against private enterprise to furnish a product that was already being provided by multiple sources. What a brilliant business decision.
