If we could amend, change, re-write parish charter, what would you want in it ?

I see we have a lot of interest here. How about a removal process for inept council members ? How about making the president accountable for responding to parish, not just city needs? How about abolition of un-needed bureaucracy like city marshall, city court, city prosecutor? How about considering true consolidation; abolish ALL corporate boundaries in parish and the little empires with them ? How about abolishing civil service ? How about abolishing all municipal police and chiefs ? How about using fire department personnel for med service rather than Acadian ? How about creating central planning, not 5 or 6 groups? How about no approval for subdivisions or apartments unless traffic is planned for ? How about a real traffic planner ? How about selling LUS and pledging money for infrastructure ? How about locks on the Vermilion Bayou for long term flood control ? How about declaring the river non-navigible so we can build cheap bridges ? Houma did. How about some ethics and accountability in LCG ? Who approved meals ? why not charge them for it ? How about a courthouse committee not comprised of self-serving courthouse executives ? How many have I missed ?

RonnieF, I really like the questions you posed to us. They are thought provoking and should be addressed. We desperately need to challenge the "powers that be" on the legality of some of the things that are currently in place I.E. tax payer paid meals, unofficial meetings or coffees and to define "consolidated" government, to name a few.

Perhaps a council member "at large". It is time to re-district again anyway, we have grown a lot in diferent areas since original council was drawn up.
