Dunce is a fool. The best thing about him tho is that he only talks to his handlers, so he has NO clue how the majority of voters really feel about him.n I promise you, he really thinks the failure of his tax was a fluke and he can get it passed next time! What a friggin dunce.

What he really believe's is that the voters of the parish want to be taxed and that we really did not understand the tax proposal because the issue is too complex for everyday citizens. Once we realize that the taxes are necessary, and that we can really trust him, in his infinite wisdom, to manage the extra funds, we will gladly support his tax proposition. He just decided to use the state sales tax collections on auto purchases in Lafayette Parish to be dedicated to some public works projects. Now that is "out of the box thinking", just like he promised. See, we really can trust him.

We can trust him to take every advantage he can with his elected position. We can trust him to be like every other elected politician and show favoritism to his cronies(see redlight cameras). Ya right Z he really does think we are a bunch of dumb cajuns doesn't he?

Yes, Durel wants the State to give up their portion of the auto tax to be turned back to the local governments for local capital projects yet he does not want to make the same jesture on the part of local government. Now, the local auto tax goes into the general fund and we are not talking about tens of millions here. Why, can't the local portion of the tax go to projects?
Guess out of the box thinking only applies to "state money".
And on another note, why is the LCG going to settle the City Marshall back pay issues? The CM is an independently elected official, his employees are not civil service, they work directly for the CM and the City IS NOT responsible for his actions or inactions in the field or in the payroll office! People of the City of Lafayette, you are being screwed on this one!

The City Marshal has been silent on this issue. I say, let's get rid of the City Marshal, the City Court, the City Judges, and the City Prosecutor. Talk about a huge money vacuum machine. What purpose is served in a consolidated government system by these offices ? That is why "they" want the red light cameras that Joey is buying; to take even more money from citizens to fund a bloated city court system. Same as ATAC; Has absolutely nothing to do with promoting public safety, just fuels the city court money machine.
Everything those people do is done at the courthouse by;Sheriff, Clerk of Court, District Attorney, and District Judges (15 of them).
