I have a small child in public school and The Lafayette Parish School Board constantly telephones me with their automated system for various non-essential annoucements. This is extremely aggravating and needs to stop. The automated system will keep calling you until you listen to the whole message.
The school board should be contacting parents for emergencys only or such things as if school is canceled the following day, not to tell parents such things as their is a fall frenzy at the cajun dome.
You cannot remove your telephone number from the schoolboard in the event there is a real emergency.

yeah and the d**n teachers always want a raise. if the school board would just stop the automated phone calls, the could save some money and give it to the teachers and not ask for TAXES

I'm sick of them calling me telling me that this school or that school is having a fun raiser, wrestling tournament, or book sale. They need to give us important information like when school will be closed, mid-terms schedules, and or parent teacher conference

Teachers have complained about salaries as far back as I can recall. I know a teacher must have a college degree (in education). Everyone should sit down and calculate what a teacher makes on an HOURLY BASIS. I promise you that unless you are very lucky, a teacher's hourly rate is far higher than for example a R.N. (who also must have a degree), a deputy sheriff/police officer/fireman etc. so why are teachers complaining. EVERYONE wants a raise DUH!!
