I love Alesi's. I've been going there since I was a little girl in the 60s, when it was on the EDGE of town!
I hear some people complain about the quality of the food, but I think it's wonderful for family dining. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the Alesi family appears to still be involved. They haven't changed much at all in the last 40 years. I kinda like that. It's got character.
Do you remember when they used to toss the pizzas in the window? Do they still do that?
Maybe I'm driving too fast down Johnston St. to notice anymore.

Ditto on that one, some of the best pizzas in town for many years. Does not even compare to pizza hut or dominos.

What do you mean, "It used to be on the edge of town"? Did the building move? Just kidding; I know what you mean. That and Cal's were way out of town. I really like there food. It been a long time since I have been there. I think I will have to start going there again. Too many to choose from. I was asking my wife the other day if they still toss the pizzas in front of the window. I would like to know. Maybe if I go I will check it out. Good Post. Taureau

Johnny Corino's and Barraccas are very good, and prices are reasonable.

Went to Johnny's a few months ago, everthing tasted frozen from a bag and reheated. Service was good, but my chicken fettucine, which, let's face it, isn't hard to screw up, tasted like a frozen meal. I can eat the same food for $2.29 at Wal-Marts frozen food section. Let's hear it for the REAL thing JOHNNY!!! What's their slogan, country italian something? get real. I'm sure they actually eat fresh food in the italian countryside.

I like food there. Take out frequently screws up order (at least on 4 occasions), however, last night when they forgot salads in order, I rec'd 3 gift certificates for $5.00. which I felt was generous. I do like Baracca's food better.

We ate at Alesi's last night and I had the seafood manicotti. It was wonderful, but for some idiotic reason I ordered a glass of chianti with it. Luckily, it didn't ruin it for me. My daughter loves their sandwiches and got their torpedo last night. She wiped it out.
