Well, the Democrats have won the House and will end up with at least half of the Senate. Nancy Pelosi, Democrat representing San Francisco, will become Speaker of the House. Donald Rumsfeld has resigned, thanks to pressure from Democrats, I bet.
The face of our federal government is moving to the left. Does anyone think this is good?
Personally, the Republicans shot themselves in the foot with all of the scandals this past year. The only big scandal from Democrats was Richard Jefferson, who still finished in first place yesterday (Kool-Aid drinkers were in abundance). President Bush, in my opinion, has become a lame duck. He will have the hardest time getting his agenda through Congress.

It will be a deadlocked congress, thank goodness. That might keep them from spending money like drunk sailors (I apologize to any sailors on the list)... Worse thing is that some of the tax cuts depend on later approvals or extensions which might not happen. I really do not care who is in office - they are all the same, just spending my tax money on a different group for their friends. I just dislike the current crop of Democrats - having Nancy Pottotie preach to me on the 6 O'Clock news is just too much. If she is joined by John Deano that will kill my TV watching for several years. I made it through Cl*nt*n for his entire 8 years without ever once listening to anything he had to say. Got to read a lot of books during that time. Where is Tip O'Oneal and the other old Democratic rascals who were fun to watch??? fubar

Why no comments on the presidential race ?
Does anyone out there feel like Mr Barack Hussein Obama has any chance whatsoever ? I think this campaign will motivate people who have never voted to get out and make a political statement. We do not seem to care at the local level at all who holds office, but I hope people feel different about the upcoming election.

Anybody out there ? I guess we are getting apathetic about our national politicians as well. I am puzzled why the press is not hammering Obama about his relationship with a bomber who has publicly stated he wished he did more bombing. And that horrible preacher where he went to church for 20+ years and never noticed how hateful the preachings were.
Well, good luck. Hope you Joe Apathy's are happy when you elect a radical American hating racist muslim liar.

Well MaryAnn, I suppose you were correct, the people have spoken in record numbers that they apparently want to move to a more liberal slant in government. Watch the spending now with the Democrat controlled house, senate and White House.
Personally, I am ashamed that voters did not look deeper into candidates lives and am most apalled that the media could so influence an election by presenting nothing but negative for one and nothing but positive for the other.

Maryann I don't think there is apathetic people that attend this forum they just had no reason to post knowing that most people here supported McCain. Since the media was pro Obama, McCain had an uphill battle from the beginning. I beleive most everyone that has attended or attends this forum was a McCain supporter. I was, and proud of it. If you were not that was your own decision.
We will see what the next four years bring. I do know that it is the end of the Mayan calender that has been in existence for thousands of years. The date is December 21st, 2012 A.D.
From the history channel they did a piece several years ago, before Obama, that they play regularly regarding the last Nostradamus prediction of World War III, I will leave it up to the readers to research the history channel website or catch the program and draw your own conclusions about the 3 anti-christs. A hint, two of them named have already past.
We shall see.

I too voted McCain as the more qualified of the 2 running. That does not say much because I believe there must far better candidates then the Bush/McCain/Obama/Clinton/Gore/Kerry types that have offered themselves as choices for president. None of these people instill much confidence or pride in me or for my country.
I do not believe that Nostradamus could predict the future nor do I believe in an antichrist coming. I hope Nostradamus is wrong and I hope the Mayan calendar is not an accurate predictor of the "end of the world".
I do believe that Barry Hussein Obama is poorly qualified to be an executive, especially at the chosen level. He reflects many younger people who as I see it, do not want to "work their way up" but want to go straight to the top. I expect as poor of a presidency as James Carter. This country can indeed survive that.
I do wonder if we are through hearing about lack of opportunity for African American citizens when we all know better. Asian Americans are easily identified and I see no such hinderance to advancement in society and do not bring up slavery anymore; every race has been enslaved at some time in history. Let's see how the liberal press makes excuses for this administration. Let us watch as the press defends failures that will most surely occur if his promises are kept.

I can't wait to see the Obama clan in the White House hosting a lavish dinner with Jessee Jackson, Al Sharpton, Oprah, Colin Powell, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden in attendance with Ayers supplying the fireworks and Rev Wright saying the invocation. Poor old Rush Limbaugh will have a stroke.

Lets hope they are wrong it would not be good, I only have 5 more years to retire and with their time table, I aint gonna make retirement, lol
I agree to, you think Rush would stroke, old George Washington would turn over in his grave. Its all about a power struggle between the two parties, it always has been and always will be until the country wakes. Do people that voted for Obama really think he gives a crap about if you live in a slum and dont make enough money. Time will tell. All these people that got registered to vote after living in this country for years without being voters are in for a rude awakening thinking that because they got out and voted for him that he will help them and now he is the best buddy.
Oprah got me with that scene of crying after he won the election. It was the best acting she has done since the Color Purple.

Oprah ? Did you catch the Reverend Jessee Jackson and his crocodile tears after Barry Obama was declared winner ? This, the same person who only a few months earlier declared that Mr Obama was not qualified nor tested enough to hold position of president. And I still want to know why it is not racist when a black votes for a black BECAUSE he is black but if a white does same, it is ?
I would postpone that retirement for a few years Bear.

I am puzzled by this "bailout" frenzy that is taking place, for the banks and the automakers; I understand that the federal government, when Oral Bill, our president was there pushed "subprime" loans at the behest of Dollar Bill Jefferson and the black caucus to make the American dream of home ownership a reality for all, not just white folks. The houses got foreclosed when people could or would not pay monthly notes. The houses were I assume, liquedated upon foreclosure. The banks turned to FannieMae/FreddieMac to make good on their loan guarantees. My question is this; If the government gives money to the banks, how exactly is this going to help the homeowners who cannot afford theit notes ?
As for the automakers, does this money go through the car industry to the unions or union workers ? I have a problem with this concept. When we bailed out Chrysler in the 70's, didn't this money go to the car company who in turn improved its market share and in turn REPAID the money early ? That does not appear to be the plan on this deal. The plan appears to be a way to funnel money to laid off and retired auto workers, and that will do nothing to help the car makers.
Furthermore, we do not need Congress telling car people how build cars; they cannot even fix Congress!

Well, hasn't even been sworn in and the waffling has begun. I wonder, will the press be so adament in reporting Mr Obama's miss-statements as they have been in the past?

THOMAS JEFFERSON / AMERICAN PROPHET
Thomas Jefferson in some cases could be called a prophet.
When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe. Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. Thomas Jefferson
It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world. Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government. Thomas Jefferson
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson
And finally a Very Interesting Quote
In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.' HE KNEW THIS IN 1802, WE STILL DON'T GET IT.....
I could not say it better if I had 3 lifetimes !!

That is pretty scary. I can see why many believe Jefferson was so far ahead of his time. And the worst part is I believe he is correct in every statement.

Well, a new president has arrived and wants us to respect the Muslims. Big suprise there Hussein Obama. I guess we owe Osama an apology for killing his men in our airplanes.
Let the games begin. I can't wait to see Obama tell the Inraeli's to turn the other cheek because the Hamas are really a nice bunch of guys who just cannot control their wayward missles.

Was Tom Jefferson a real person ? I cannot imagine anyone that smart coming from this country. Or George Washington or Ben Franklin for that matter.
What do you suppose they would be thinking right about now?

One need not be an economist to see that a democratic controlled congress is killing everyone. The stock market, generally a useful barometer, is ignored as though the loss of millions of people's life savings/retirements is of no consequence. I seem to recall Pres Carter saying that after he took office he was privy to facts that he was previously unaware and thus that he was wrong. The new "Carter" administration is so arrogant, they simply do not care. They can play the race card at will. Any predictions on how much turnover there will be in the next election cycle? I think about 1/3 will be gone. Anyone see the letter to the editor warning Sen Landrieu to stay liberal ? Kind of like telling a wolf to kill a sheep; try and stop it. She is in hog's heaven right now. A bunch of free spenders with no control whatsoever. I am dying to see these same people vote for tax hikes while blaming Bush for their folly.

What has this country come to when people of the ilk of Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi speak for us all?
Barney questions the fact that the court is full of "homophobes"? Has he considered the fact that allowing same sex marriage will open the door for pretty much everything from marrying your dog to a monkey, from your cousin to your sister, polygamy etc. will all be rationalized if left up to him. When are people going to stand up and say "enough"?

We now have our highest ranking politician BOWING to the King of Saudi, the same country of origin of the "911" terrorists? Isn't that a little demeaning ? Isn't that why we fought a war against British tyrants in the 1770's; to not bow and scrape to royalty? I also see he did not bow to the Queen of the British Empire, and she is shorter than the Saudi King.
God help us!
