I want to commend all of you members for keeping this site alive with the flow of information. As we can see, new things are learned everyday about our government and other things affecting Lafayette just from yall"s participation in passing on information.
When I first started this board there were no other Local Message Boards to post on to talk about Lafayette issues, and after a few months of my board being up, all of sudden the Advertiser gets one going and now TV3 is trying to get in on it by turning theirs back on. I started it for the traffic problem. It has grown into many other areas, like our Lafayette government posts, that affect all of us.
I post on the advertiser board too, as some of you do, to make sure as many people as possible can be informed about serious decisions they have to make inlcuding the ones like this tax which failed.
And just to let all of you know, this board is constantly visited by IP's from the Lafayette City Hall and both TV stations and the advertiser.
So yall keep it up because I guarantee they are reading your posts.

Question: I voted against the taxes. Why was the court house tax on property owners? Sales tax would be more equitable.

Yeah, a temporary sales tax, maybe 4 years would do it. Then let's talk about the maintenance issue.
And I want to thank you "T" for giving us a place to vent. It may do no good, but I feel better.

Ya know T, I really feel that you and your site have had a big very positive impact on this community. There really was no place to voice our displeasure at what was happening in our local misgovernment. It's a shame that the airport problems had to be uncovered by a "civic group", you'd think that a newspaper would routinely peruse through government records etc. to make sure all government meetings, meals etc. were done in the "sunshine". In fact the newspaper people should issue an apology to the citizens of this parish for failing to do what the newspaper should have been doing! Next time I see any of these news folks I promise I will express my displeasure with them. I hope everyone will do the same. The same goes for our politicians, express your displeasure each and every time to see them. Get the message across... yes we are fed up with you and your policies. Thanks again T for the service you provide!!!!!

So now that we have won one small battle, the war continues. There are so many boards, committees, authorities etc. spending tax dollars that we need constant vigil against government miss-use of our money. The news media should lead the charge but instead of a government "watch dog" our media here is a "lap dog". Confront your duncilmen and dunce AND jabba. When seen in public express your feelings. Believe me I do. If you seee any media reps in public, ask why and what they are doing to insure proper use of tax dollars. Time to keep the ball rolling. We can do it!

Lets e-mail this site to BATON ROUGE so in Decembers session while they are playing cards and scheming they can see that we are watching them. Good going team players. We get em where it hurts, let everyone know what they are doing.
