I did not know that Allstate was the official sponsor of this year's Sugar Bowl. This company has a lot of gall after what it did to the citizens of Louisiana after hurricanes Rita and Katrina. To pump millions of dollars into a football game in the same state where you threaten to drop ALL policyholders unless things go your way is a slap in the face. I am surprised that no one has brought this up in the newsmedia. I'll say it again...spending millions on a football game in the same city where you shafted thousands of people out of their insurance policy benefits really pisses me off.

And the kicker was not even from Louisiana, but a Notre Dame fan. Even the announcer had to whisper that.
Could at least have dragged someone from St Bernard to Kick. At least the money would be spent locally.

That would have been a feelgood story to have someone who lost everything in the hurricane to kick. Allstate wouldn't have seemed so heartless. I hope that organization goes bankrupt.
I do have to say that ignorance is bliss. It was only a few short years ago that I didn't pay attention to current events, politics, and big businesses. I was so much happier then. I miss those times.

I am surprised that no one at Allstate had the foresight to take advantage of the publicity opportunities afforded by the Sugar Bowl. It was great that LSU-Notre Dame were in the game as it returned to new Orleans and was a golden opportunity. That seems about right.
I am a new poster to this board, but have on occasion visited and read posts. I too agree with the "ignorance is bliss" statement. The more I have read, and posts seem accurate as to facts, the more I want to see a clean sweep in Lafayette Parish. I guess I did not pay attention to political issues thinking that they did not matter to me, but I see that I was wrong.
In fact, as I stand back and really examine things, I am becoming very angry at the audacity of all officials, both local and state.
Why isn't money spent on beads donated to shelters to feed the hungry? Shelter when it is cold ? Who really cares if yet another street is named after MLK, and can any of these people like Dr Williams even recite a single quote from this man whom he apparently holds in such esteem. Who is this pudgy fellow who is an administrator for City-Parish that is downright arrogant and maintains such a caviler attitude toward us citizens ? Where on earth did we find the fellow who assesses property taxes, and why does he think we want to pay more ? Why can't we find someone who will be a chief of police, and not an "acting chief"? Is it a make believe job ? Who really thinks we need cameras to spy on us ? This is not Red China is it ? Crime is increasing in Lafayette; where is Dr Mike Neustrom ? I think he is a big Zero. Who thinks we need a $70 million courthouse to house these arrogant officials. Have any of you gone to city or parish courthouse and seen the security in place ? We, the citizens, are treated like criminals when all we seek is access to a public building to do necessary business; we are not in New York or DC. Okay, I am overboard already so I will shut up and vote Against All Incumbents. Let's elect a new crew to share the wealth!

Pudgy fellow ? Would that be Jabba she refers to ?
Acting chief. Does sound like a make believe job doesn't it ? From the job Craft is doing, i think he believes it is make believe.
And yes, the assessor is pretty free with raising assessments hence raising tax revenue to hand over to Durel & company.

Yeah it must be nice, btw, Allstate was the sponser for the sugar bowl and wasnt State Farm the sponser last night for the Saints playoff game. Talk about the nerve of these coporations, "we are not going to insure you and will be dropping alot of our customers" but we are going to sponsor these games in your state.
